Recognise fraudulent communications and keep your data safe.
Learn how to detect suspicious communications
At RedClick, we know how online shopping and transactions have grown in the last few years. It is essential to understand how to identify when we face a suspicious message or email.
Phishing and smishing are fraudulent communication created by scammers to convince someone to give them their personal details.
Phishing emails look like similar communications from your service providers. Smishing texts look like genuine messages from your service providers.
- Tips for recognising and avoiding scams and keeping yourself safe online:
- The message arrives without context or out of the blue;
- The email or text message comes from a sender that you don’t recognise;
- The communication claims your account or policy might have been compromised;
- The message contains an unnecessary attachment, poor grammar or spelling;
- If there’s a suspicious link that indicates that you have to ‘verify’, ‘update’ or ‘reactivate’ your account;
- If the message says to call an unfamiliar number;
- If there is an unusual payment request;
- If communication conveys a sense of urgency or pressure;
- If the message comes from an email or text sender plausible, check for misspellings.
Don't forget to check if the email or text makes sense regarding your interactions with RedClick , if the communication is essential to you or if or looks and sounds like the regular RedClick communications.
If you are not sure if a RedClick communication is genuine, please send us an email explaining the issue or with a screenshot attached.
